Football Teams

It has always been a long running tradition at Talbot to have a school football team and we are proud to say that our students love representing the school.

We have both a boys and a girl’s football team who both compete against other schools across the city. At the end of the academic year we also have the annual staff vs students football match, which is always a keenly contested match.

A little more information about the teams;

Boys team

The boys football team has been running for many years and has always been well represented with lots of students wanting to represent the school in matches. The boys team play a mix of 6 and 8 a-side matches against other schools. Over the past few years we have competed against Seven Hills, Heritage Park, Holgate Meadows, Bents Green, Wales High School, Winter Hill School and others.

The boys have competed in many tournaments run by Links School Sports Partnership and have always had good success. The last tournament they played in they finished in a very honourable 3^rd place. They have also enjoyed friendly matches against Winter Hill School in more recent times and these have been very popular, hosting the matches at home on the Talbot Astro Turf pitches.

This season we have a link with Sheffield United Community Foundation who are going to be providing training sessions for the boy’s football team.

Girls team

The girl’s team is a more recent addition to Talbot Specialist School. Working in partnership with Sheffield United Community Foundation they have provided weekly training sessions for girls across the school.

The training sessions have been extremely popular, and the girls have really enjoyed taking part in the sessions. The sessions run in Newfield School Sports Hall which gives the team more space to practice and train together.

The girl’s team have played in some friendly matches against other schools and have always done well. We are hoping to organise more matches for them this season against other schools.
