Outdoor Learning at Talbot Specialist School
Outdoor Learning plays a central role in our curriculum and we believe that learning outside of the classroom is a vital part of the students education at Talbot Specialist School. Our students thrive in the great outdoors and we encourage them to actively engage in our extensive outdoor curriculum.
We want our students to have the opportunity to be able to explore and learn outside throughout the year, experiencing the seasons and changing nature around them. We recognise that many of our students do not get the equal opportunities outside school to experience the outdoors and nature. This is why outdoor learning is a central part of our curriculum.
Mission Statement;
Our aim is to provide all students with a rich and diverse Outdoor Learning Curriculum where students can thrive in the Great Outdoors. Providing them with opportunities to explore, seek new challenges and find their own path. We believe nature has direct benefits to children’s physical, mental and emotional health. Opportunities in natural settings offer possibilities for restoration and wellbeing.
“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”
John Muir
“Nature breeds curiosity; it helps to grow explorers rather than robots. It reminds us that we are part of something bigger. It grounds us, calms us.”
Ben Palmer-Fry
