English Homework Activities

The English Faculty has been really busy over the last year creating a toolkit of different documents for teachers and parents  to use and adapt for the very specialist needs of the students in their charge. One of the developments that we are most proud of is the creation of a stimulating and dynamic 3 route English Curriculum,

We have created a bank of over 250 ideas of fun ways students can access English and Communication that can be applied to or utilized within any topic.  Although they are grouped into 3 routes (Route 1 for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, Route 2 for students with severe learning difficulties and Route 3 for students with moderate learning difficulties) Teachers and parents are able to select any activity as appropriate for the needs of their students.

These ideas have been uploaded to the school web page and can be found in the ‘English Homework’ section.  We would really love for parents to access them as informal English homework projects. There are enough ideas for students to access 1 per week over 2 years within each route and following the recent move towards Key Stages a 3 yearly cycle will be developed next year. We appreciate that there may also be a greater depth of learning if one project is developed over a sustained period of time. Parents can have the freedom to select the ideas and timeframes that are most suitable and pertinent for the very specific and personal needs of each individual child. All staff would love to hear or see any evidence such as photos, videos, completed work etc. of the students accessing these different activities.
