‘Whenever people gather to play the drum, the world is a better place’
The Nigerian educator, drummer and social activist. Babatunde Olatunji, believed that ‘Whenever people gather to play the drum, the world is a better place’, so he would have been delighted to hear 25 Talbot drummers, under the expert leadership of Talbot’s very own guitarist, singer, drummer and music teacher, David Sharman, give their first joyous public performance as part of our History Day celebrations last week.
David had rehearsed the Ensemble, who were comprised of talented musicians from across school, for several months before he considered them ready to perform in public. Teaching students drum techniques, the basics of rhythm and the importance of following direction from the conductor ensured a polished performance that the packed Hall received with tumultuous applause .The Ensemble is thrilled to perform for you here : they hope you find it as uplifting to watch as they did to perform!
