Talbot Performers Are Up To The Mark!
Thursday May 19th was a very special day for six Talbot actors, Aaminah, Brandon, Cade, Brandon, Steven and Tameeka as AQA Assessor, Jon Parker, was in school to assess their acting skills as they performed ‘What Are They Like?’ as part of their work towards a GCSE in Performing Arts. They were all very nervous but were assured that nerves were not only part of the creative process but were also character building!
I’m delighted to say that they rose to the occasion and all gave what Jon described as ‘imaginative, thoughtful, compelling performances’. Jon, as part of his role, assesses numerous schools and he assured me that our students held their own against any other performance he has seen this year. This is important to know as, of course, students are assessed against national norms.
May I also applaud Hayden, Nile, Eryn, Yasmin, Claire, David, Jen, Sarah, Rachael, Matt, Anne and Dan, without whose support the performance would not have been possible
We are now looking forward to Results Day on Thursday August 25th, when it’s my turn to feel nervous. I fully expect that our six candidates will be celebrating with the other hundreds of thousands of British school students who also receive their results that day. Watch this space!
