‘Lazy Sunday Afternoon’? That wasn’t the case for 19 students, 16 mums/dads/sisters/brothers/grandmas and 5 staff from both Talbot and Seven Hills Schools as, on November 23rd, we excitedly boarded a coach bound for The Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival, York.
Talbot Music Department’s love of classical music combined with the expertise of Seven Hills Dance teacher, Katy Marsh produced an interpretive Dance on the theme of ‘Revolution’ set to the music of Gustav Holst’s ‘Mars’. We were thrilled by our students’ confidence and commitment whilst performing to a 900 strong audience and of the enthusiastic way they enjoyed performances from 13 schools from across Yorkshire. We’re proud to announce that this Festival was the first public performance of the work of the burgeoning Sheffield Specialist Schools Creative Arts Network.
Look out for our next collaboration on March 23rd, 2015, when dancers from Talbot and Seven Hills join Bents Green Specialist School musicians on stage at the City Hall at the Sheffield Music Hub Schools’ Concert. Finally, we’d like to thank the dancers’ families for their support – it wouldn't have been so rewarding without you!
